 Are the trips chaperoned/school sponsored?
The trips that USA offers are not school sponsored or chaperoned because they take place after graduation. USA does provide a team of adult staff members on site, and a 24-hour staff office is set up at each destination for emergencies and general assistance. Although our staff does not enforce bed checks or curfews, they are present at all of the USA activities throughout the week, and are stationed at the same hotels the students use. The majority is CPR trained, and several are bilingual. Staff members are very familiar with the destinations and our program and are able to assist with most situations.
Are only seniors allowed on the trip?
No, seniors and their guests are invited to participate in our trips. Siblings, parents, or friends from other schools can travel together, as long as they register with the same group. Keep in mind that your trip-date is based on the graduation date of the group you are traveling with. Travelers from different schools should make sure their graduation date doesn’t conflict with the grad trip.
Do I Need to Make Payments?
Payments of $75 are recommended each month. You must have your Traveler ID number (listed on your statement) on any payments mailed to this office. DO NOT SEND CASH in the mail! You can send a payment without a statement, but be sure to indicate your Traveler ID number and name on each payment. You can also pay off your trip early. For added convenience, you can make your payments online at anytime. Keep in mind that the credit card price is $15.00 more than the cash discounted price—no longer $12 as indicated on the back of your statement. This $15 fee will be charged only once with your first credit card payment no matter how many credit card payments you make.

Do I really need to be paid in full by March 1, 2005?
Yes. Your balance is due in our office by March 1, 2005 no matter how late you register. There will not be any extensions or exceptions to this date. All travelers not paid in full by March 1, 2005 will be automatically cancelled. All payments received after March 1, 2005 will be processed on a space available basis with a $30 late fee.

Is medical insurance included?
The Travel Protection brochure gives the schedule and description of benefits for the medical portion that is provided at no cost to you, which is Part A. Part B is the optional insurance that you can purchase, which is highly recommended in the event you need to cancel for medical reasons. This valuable Travel Protection Plan also includes trip interruption and lost or delayed baggage. Please review the brochure for detailed schedule and description of benefits.

What are the cancellation fees?
The cancellation fees vary depending on when you notify us in writing that you wish to cancel. Your deposit is non-refundable and the complete schedule of cancellation fees can be found on the back of the statement received in this packet or you can go online. Every time you receive a statement, these cancellation penalties will be listed on the back.

What travel documents do I need?
For travel to Mexico and the Bahamas, a valid U.S. passport is the best document to use as proof of citizenship. If you do not have one, you must have an original certified copy (not a photocopy) of your birth certificate and a valid state issued photo ID. If you are under the age of 18 at the time of travel, you must also have a notarized letter of permission signed by both legal guardians. Non-U.S. citizens should contact their local consulate for documentation requirements. Go to www.usastudenttravel.com and click on “LINKS” for detailed information and how to apply for a passport or birth certificate. You will be denied boarding if you do not have the proper proof of citizenship.

What hotel will we stay in?
Our goal is to keep you and your group in the same hotel. Every effort will be made to accommodate your group in its first choice hotel. In the event your first choice hotel is unavailable, you will be assigned to a hotel in the same category as your original choice. You will find out what hotel your group has been assigned approximately 30 days prior to your departure.

What if I can't find enough roommates?
The price is based on four to a room, and you choose your own roommates. You can request your roommates online in April 2005. If you do not have a total of 4 people in your room, you will incur an occupancy fee that must be paid in full prior to receiving your travel documents. Your organizer will submit the final rooming in April after the final payments are processed. Check with your group organizer to see if anyone else may be looking for roommates. USA Student Travel can assist with rooming but is NOT responsible for filling rooms.

What date is our trip and do you know the name of the airline?
Your departure will be within 10 business days of your graduation unless graduation is before May 23, 2005. Tentative dates are assigned in February and are subject to change until 30 days prior to that date. We use both scheduled and chartered air. Assignments of your group’s exact airline and dates are decided once we know the exact number of students that have paid in full. Our priority is to keep your entire group together on the same flight. You can check your account online for updates to your itinerary beginning in May 2005.

How much spending money should I plan to take?
The average student does fine with $500 - $600 for the entire week. This should cover food, extra activities, and souvenirs. Food is NOT included with your trip. Of course, personal spending habits should also be taken into account. We strongly recommend Traveler's Checks instead of cash, as they can be replaced if lost and are accepted everywhere.

When do I get my airline tickets?
Tickets will be mailed to your home, in most cases, approximately 7-10 days prior to departure. Valuable information will be included in this packet, including roommate information and hotel phone numbers. Please take the time to read everything with your parents and make a copy for them to keep in case they need to contact you at your destination.

Are there any activities included in the price?
Yes, there are different dance club parties that will be scheduled through-out the week. We also offer a “party package” for an additional cost, which is unique to each destination. Go on-line to view a sample of activities. This package can be purchased at your destination after your hotel orientation.

Our Website
Many of your questions can also be answered on our website. New travelers can sign up online and, once registered, can also make your payments online. You can view up to date account information 24 hours a day. You must have an email address registered to your account in order to have online access, so make sure you keep us updated with your current email address.
